An offer for talks with Cuba was rejected by the United States on Thursday.
The offer came from Cuba's acting President, Raul Castro, who led Cuba's national day festivities on Thursday, one year after his brother, President Fidel Castro, was last seen in public.Acting President Raul Castro said he was willing to hold talks with Washington to end more than a half century of enmity between the two countries. He said he would welcome talks with the new US administration if the United States could set aside what he called its overbearing nature."Otherwise," said Raul, "we are ready to continue confronting their policy of hostility even for another 50 years if needs be." |
